About this work
This photograph was taken in 2017 in the workshops of the El Almendral neighborhood, Valparaíso. Two colleagues work there: the Cherub and the Pirate. While the Pirate travels around the city looking for materials to recycle, the Cherub transforms them into pieces that give new life to numerous discarded materials. They form a perfect equation between waste and recycling, work and friendship, a combination that allows them to sustain an alternative way of life.
The work refers to Marcel Duchamp in his desire to recover all kinds of materials to compose his works. He himself has traveled the streets transporting waste to his workshop, reaching such a level of accumulation that his neighbors came to complain. The title in the form of an equation is a reference to his last posthumous work " Being given: 1° the water shot 2° the lighting gas ". Marcel Duchamp also appears by chance in the Pirate's profile, like a ghost who comes to affirm the name of the workshop: "the artist".

About our screen prints
Their production begins with the development of the black and white analog photographic film. We create color layers that are added to the photograph and develop them on screen printing matrices. By combining inks and pigments, we create a special color range for each series. Finally, each copy is printed by hand, layer by layer. All the works are numbered, signed, and stamped with its printing date.
